Reading Journal: Captain Underpants.
Captain Underpants: chapter 1: George and Harold
Introducing George and Harold they are clever and good-hearten boys and they are fourth graders. At their school fourth graders have to pay attention and sit still. Their not good at that.
Today my reading group (Dragons) we had to read a chapter and retell parts of the chapter.
The book I read was
Captain underpants and the invasion of the incredibly naughty cafeteria ladies from outer space (and the subsequent assault of the equally evil lunchroom zombie nerds)
What I found exiting
was reading the chapter
What I found difficult
was retelling parts of that chapter that I read
What I might do next time
is work with a buddy

Bedtime cat.
Bedtime Cat.
There’s a lump on my bed,
A bump on my bed,
A furry purry hump on my bed,
And my mother said,
“Put the cat out”
There’s a growl outside,
A yowl outside,
A cold lonely howl outside,
And my brother cried,
“Let the cat in!”
By: Joy Cowley.
Today room 1 had to rewrite the poem (Bedtime cat) for our writing.
The thing I found exiting.
was finding all the rhyming words.
The thing I found difficult.
was looking up and down at my writing book to see if I got everything in the right place.
What I might do next time.
Is put my book in front of my screen so I don't have to keep looking up and down.

The thing that I found difficult was putting the shadow under my writing.
The thing that I found easy was finding the photo of Shane Achbold.
I might work with a buddy next time.

The Golden Egg
Today Room 1 did shared reading and we read The Golden Key off Pobble 365, it was a lot of fun.
What I found enjoying was putting in the pictures.
What I found difficult was putting my own adjectives and adverbs.
What I might do next time is ask a buddy to read the story out so I don't have to look back and forth.

Sun presentation
In room 1 the top reading group is the dragons, which I am in. We had to do facts and questions about the sun.
What I found enjoying was answering the questions.
What I found difficult was finding the pictures.
What I might do next time is help someone in my group and they can help me.

Maui finds his family
All of room 1 did a storyboard. We all did one Maori myth. I was doing the one when Maui finds his family.
Next time I might read the book more so i don't have to go back and forth and find different characters.

back to school 2018
Yesterday week 2 term 1 2018. We were on stage at assembly, I was so nervous on stage but luckily there were a little bit of people at assembly. After assembly we went back to class. Mrs Wallace called the roll. Then explained what we were doing. The bell rang then it was morning tea.
Terence, Lincoln, Mahia, Eugene and I were playing ninja's vs military and ninja's won.
Then the bell rang to go back to class. Then we did some shared reading. The book we were reading was The crocodile's Christmas jandals and it was about a crocodile with Christmas jandals. After that it was lunch because we had no brain break. When it was play time Kairo and I went to go play rugby. I got 2 try saves to BJ. After lunch I went to take the scraps. Then at the end of the day Maika and I went to go open the back gate.

For the summer learning journey I have to write 3 facts about Maui and the giant fish
Maui and the giant fish.
- Maui had weaved a fishing line out of flax and did an old karakia to give his line strength.
- Maui’s ancestor Murirangawhenua had given him a jawbone to use as a hook.
Maui had punched himself hard on the nose to make it bleed using his blood for bait to catch a fish.
- Murirangawhenua had gifted his people a giant fish to live on.
- Maui’s giant fish was known as the north island of aotearoa and Maui’s waka is known as the south island.

summer learning journey
Today we did a practice activity for the Summer Learning Journey.
First we read the story Maui and the Giant Fish.
Then we wrote 3 facts we learned from the story.
Here are my facts:
- Maui’s ancestor Murirangawhenua had given him a jawbone maui used the jawbone as the fishing hook.
- Maui hid in the bottom of the boat to go fishing with his brothers.
- The fish Maui pulled up from the sea is known as the North Island and Maui's waka is known as the South Island.
The thing that I found challenging was knowing what to do because I just came back from doing messages.
The thing I will do differently is ask people for help.

We are learning to summarise the main idea in each paragraph of a text.
Reading Response Journal: Wero. SJ Aug,2013. L3.
Kauri is the leader of the kapa haka group. They are about to perform on stage for the end-of-year show.
This is one of my favourite parts of the story.
Kauri lifts his taiaha, we all get into position, the crowd goes wild with excitement as we walk across the stage., i am sweating and breathing hard. I must keep up, Girls pukana faces, swaying their pui pui's, when we walk off the stage.
