Composting
Yesterday room 1 learned about composting, I was budded up with Terence. We talked about the greens and the browns, the green stands for nitrogen. Browns stand for organic. Leachate is when rubbish is in a hole of dirt the yucky things from the rubbish travel down the soil and go into the grounds water then it becomes polluted.
The thing that we found exiting.
Terence: making the middle part of the thing.
Tekawana: doing the compost recipe.
The thing that we found difficult
Terence: building the Leachate.

Collaborative explanation writing.
Collaborative explanation writing.
Today after morning tea Room 1 did some explanation writing.
Planning ideas
- Cut fabric to the size we want.
- Get a cheese grater and beeswax.
- Grate the wax on top of the fabric.
- Place baking paper on top.
- Iron.
- Wait for it to cool and dry.
Beeswax wraps can be used to wrap your food instead of plastic.
Here is one of the many ways you can make your own wraps.
First you need to cut some cotton fabric to the size you want.
For different uses you might like to try different shapes and sizes. For example, you could cut fabric to the size of your favourite bowl.
Using the cheese grater, carefully grate the wax on to the fabric. Give the fabric an even coating of wax sprinkles because it is important to have a consistent layer so your food stays fresh.
Completely cover the fabric with baking paper. Gently rub the iron over the baking paper to melt the wax. The hot wax will melt in to the fabric creating a sticky air-tight wrap. Remove the baking paper and allow the wrap to cool down. This will take around 3 minutes.
Once it has cooled, your wrap is ready to use. Goodbye to single-use plastic wraps!
The thing that I found exiting.
was hearing and putting the descriptive words.
The thing that I found difficult.
was understanding the paragraphs.
What I might do next time.
Put my hand up more than I did before.

Magic carpet ride
The boy lean't to his left and swooped around another corner. He never felt more alive than when he was on his magic carpet.
Finding a straight stretch of road he urged the carpet to top speed, sending plumes of dust from the ground all around him. He quickly approached a woman dressed in black carrying a bowl of fruit.
The dusty golden bowl contained red juicy apples, green luxurious pears, brightly coloured oranges, and bananas as yellow as the sun. He swooped in and quickly grabbed a red juicy apple, racing away so he wouldn’t get into any trouble.
He could only hear the stones rattling on the ground. When he looked back he could only see plumes and plumes of dust in the air. He went up high in the sky and spied the lady swiping the plumes of dust away from her face.
“GET BACK HERE YOU SCUMBAG!!!!” She yelled angrily.
When the clouds of dust vanished she could see only a silent town.
Room 1 has been doing pobble 365 (magic carpet) all week.
What I found exciting.
Was putting in all the descriptive words in my writing.
What I found challenging.
Was spelling the descriptive words.

WALT: work together as a team in P.E
This morning room 1 went to the backfield, to do some P.E.
Firstly we ha to line up outside our class room, to get ready to go to the backfield with matua Boden.
Secondly I had to go lock the back gate. We had to line up into a boy and a girl line.
Lastly we had to run around and look for red, yellow, orange and white cones. After we done that, the class was split in half and we had to go find rugby balls. Each half of the class got 5 balls each.
I really enjoyed going to P.E because I got to see all the happy and competitive faces.

Bedtime cat.
Bedtime Cat.
There’s a lump on my bed,
A bump on my bed,
A furry purry hump on my bed,
And my mother said,
“Put the cat out”
There’s a growl outside,
A yowl outside,
A cold lonely howl outside,
And my brother cried,
“Let the cat in!”
By: Joy Cowley.
Today room 1 had to rewrite the poem (Bedtime cat) for our writing.
The thing I found exiting.
was finding all the rhyming words.
The thing I found difficult.

What I might do next time.
Is put my book in front of my screen so I don't have to keep looking up and down.
